I had seen a quote on Facebook
"I want My life back "
"I want myself back"
Ahhh the intense feelings and emotions!
I have been in a flare up for weeks
Struggling with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
Trying so hard just to make it through each day!
Mental states is like a wild rollercoaster ride
As I reflect over for past 11 months of being not only an injured worker, but also NOW with permanent impairments.
Every single day I wish that things were different
How I would much rather be driving around and assisting my clients.
I know that it is unrealistic because I can hardly take care of myself
Prior to these work acquired injuries
I was a go getter go! Working 12+ hours daily, very very minimal down time!
Was able to work 2 weeks straight and then have a few days to myself.
My old self would be put into nature's hiking, swimming.
It's the aftermath of the injuries
Everything changes
I isolated myself from everyone and everything
I lost trust in people and the system
I just can't believe that this is my life now
Basically surviving
My neck, shoulders, spine and tailbone burning and jack-hammering me non-stop!
It is so so hard to tolerate and manage!
My wsib claim is now in appeals
The system is slow and takes a while for the claim case to be seen!
Been cut off since August 2022
No benefits, no medication coverage, no treatments
Permanently impairment injured workers
Are falling through the cracks
This is not how an individual nor employee should be treated
The workers compensation system needs to be revamped
Injured workers have a right to speak up
Without raising our voices there's no change!
As I start this new chapter with my work acquired disabilities
I turn over a new leaf by advocating for myself!
Raising awareness about the harsh realities of being an injured worker
Welcome all 🤗😁 let's all work together and make things better for ourselves and everyone
A better system for all workers
No one deserves a poor quality of life just because we got injured and then permanent impairments
I personally don't wish this on anyone!
Let's make 2023 a good year with changes :)
